Where were you born, and where do you live now?
I was born in Milwaukee (Wisconsin) but currently reside in Apex, North Carolina. I will always be a midwesterner at heart! I love my cheese curds and I have an obvious Wisconsin accent.
What are your favorite ways to spend your free time outside of work?
I love getting outside and going on hikes with my husband and dogs, going to boxing classes, and cooking and baking! I’m not a very good cook, but it’s a good challenge.
If you could choose to be an animal, which would you choose?
I think I would like to be an eagle. It would be so cool to see that view of the world from up so high, and it would be great to travel around quickly!
What are you currently binge-watching?
I’m currently watching the Haunting of Hill House! It has amazing storytelling and cinematography, but also because it’s spooky season.
Name one marketing mistake many brands make but can easily be avoided.
Making video ads that are way too long! The internet has trained people to have limited media attention spans. Coming up with short and sweet video content for your ads will save you a lot of time and energy.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Light-hearted, enthusiastic, and determined.
You are hosting a dinner party and get to invite 3 famous people (from any time period), who do you choose?
Sitting Bull, Jane Goodall, and Bon Jovi (the last one is kind of a curveball but I’ve been a huge fan of his since like 8th grade).
What are your goals for this year?
My career goals are to have a deeper understanding of data storytelling, motion graphics, and video ads for social media! I have always created video content, but I would also love to understand how to successfully run and monitor video ads.
Outside of work, a goal of mine for this year is to get into kickboxing tournaments. I did a couple of matches a few years ago, and it’s a very rewarding challenge!
If you had to pick one artist/song to narrate your life from this point on, what would it be?
I’m a sucker for The Beatles. They have so many narrative songs!
What is one thing you believe every marketer should know?
Story matters! Treat your audience like close friends, and give them a reason to invest the emotional energy.
How do you take your coffee?
I LOVED iced coffee. Specifically a cold brew with some cold foam or oat milk.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a veterinarian or an archaeologist. I love history and animals, but then I realized how stressful that might be to handle ancient artifacts or perform surgery. I also remember as a kid an archaeologist came to our school and told us his back always hurt from being at digs for 12 hour days. No thanks!
What is your favorite part about working for Aimtal?
I love how collaborative and uplifting the team is. Everyone is so detail-oriented and gives great constructive feedback. They always promote growth, flexibility, and work-life balance! I also love the hilarious side conversations that take place in the #random slack channel.
What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled to? Which destinations are at the top of your travel list?
New Zealand, for sure. I went there with my husband about 5 years ago. The terrain is unbelievable, and we are also pretty big Lord of the Rings nerds haha!
I would say Chile and Argentina are next on my list, and also Ireland and Italy.
Name a quote that you live by.
