Get to know her more in this spotlight interview:
Where were you born, and where do you live now?
I was born in Burnaby, BC, Canada, but grew up in Kelowna, BC. Currently I’m living in Coquitlam, BC, Canada — a suburb of Vancouver. I’ve lived in BC my whole life, and honestly, the province has one of the most varied climates. We have the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver Island, the Great Bear Rainforest, the Rocky Mountains to the easternmost part of the province, and one area has a desert climate. It’s truly astounding and just so beautiful.
What are your favorite ways to spend your free time outside of work?
I love to hike or just be in nature, read, attend spin or workout classes, cook and bake, and visit wineries. Honestly, there are too many things to choose from.
If you could choose to be an animal, which would you choose?
Definitely a sea otter! I think they’re just the most adorable animals and while I know they can be vicious in the wild when they need to be, I love them so much. Plus they hold hands when they sleep so they don’t drift away from each other.
What are you currently binge-watching?
I have an extremely varied taste in shows, I’m always watching some sort of true-crime series or documentary. However, my latest obsessions have been Minx and Euphoria.
Name one marketing mistake many brands make but can easily be avoided.
Pixelated images on social channels. It’s something that’s easy to catch (unless something goes horribly wrong during the uploading process) and conveys that you pay attention to what’s going out.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Curious, empathetic, friendly.
You are hosting a dinner party and get to invite 3 famous people (from any time period), who do you choose?
Taylor Swift, she’s a lowkey marketing genius. Jennifer Anniston, she’s had such a great career and stayed true to herself through it all — plus Rachel Green was everything I loved when I was growing up. Fredrik Backman, I absolutely love his novels and the way he draws you into his storytelling.
What are your goals for this year?
I’d like to travel more now that the pandemic is easing a bit, spend more time on hikes this summer, furthering my skills, and start volunteering again.
If you had to pick one artist/song to narrate your life from this point on, what would it be?
This is an impossible choice, but probably Smith & Thell. They write such beautiful music about life in general.
What is one thing you believe every marketer should know?
Social isn’t just about images and witty puns, it’s about building connections with your customers and potential customers.
How do you take your coffee?
Preferably iced with just a splash of milk or cream. Bonus points if it has a hint of vanilla.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A pediatrician, a journalist, and an author. When I was 10 it was all of these things at the same time. I’ve always loved storytelling and people.
What is your favorite part about working for Aimtal?
I love how collaborative and supportive the entire team is. They’re all amazing at their jobs and help each other out when needed. Plus the conversations we have at work are truly hilarious, and every day someone has me laughing about something.
What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled to? Which destinations are at the top of your travel list?
In Canada, it’s a tie between Banff and Princess Louisa Inlet. Such stunning places and honestly they’ll take your breath away.
Destinations on the top of my list are: Switzerland, Iceland, Greece, New Zealand, Italy, and South Africa.
Name a quote that you live by.
“There are no mistakes, only opportunities.”
