Aimtal Team Spotlight: Sierra Unsworth

By the Aimtal Team | November 25, 2020

We’re willing to bet that you’ve never met someone who loves hippos or Lady Gaga more than our Senior Account Manager, Sierra Unsworth (@sierraunsworth). She may also be the most organized human on Earth—is there a Guinness World Record for that? When Sierra’s not spearheading project plans and communicating with our clients, you can find her in the snack aisle at Trader Joe’s.

Get to know Sierra more in this Q+A! ⬇️

Where were you born, and where do you live now?

I was born in Connecticut, but I’m currently living in Pittsburgh, PA! I’ve also lived in San Francisco and Boston along the way.

What are your favorite ways to spend your free time outside of work?

I try to go snowboarding any chance I get! It’s a little more difficult now that I live in Pittsburgh. On a more regular basis, you can usually find me reading, watching Netflix, or taking a trip to Trader Joe’s.

If you could choose to be an animal, which would you choose?

Definitely a hippo. They get to play in the water and sunbathe all day, and can chomp whole melons like it’s nothing.

Name one marketing mistake many brands make but can easily be avoided.

Not having a solid brand identity before starting to present themselves online. Brands need to decide who they are as a company first, then ensure their values, digital presence, and overall brand identity adhere to it. Consumers can spot sloppy, inconsistent branding from a mile away.

What are your goals for this year?

Personally: Learn all the rules of hockey! My fiancé works in the industry, so I’m trying to catch up.

Professionally: Expand my skills & knowledge in ways that can benefit our clients. The more I know, the better they’ll look online!

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Adventurous, Talkative, Caring.

What are you currently binge-watching?

The Queen’s Gambit.

You are hosting a dinner party and get to invite 3 famous people (dead or alive), who do you choose?

Lady Gaga because she’s my actual idol. Shonda Rhimes because she’s a creative genius and I’d love to pick her brain — and also ask her a million questions about killing off my favorite Grey’s Anatomy characters. Walt Disney so I could thank him for creating the empire that defined my childhood and changed the film industry forever.

If you had to pick one artist/song to narrate your life from this point on, what would it be?

Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga

How do you take your coffee?

Just cream.

What is one thing you believe every marketer should know?

How to communicate the value of marketing to clients! Many clients come to marketers because they don’t understand or know how to do it themselves, so being able to explain why they need it and how it benefits them is a very important skill.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

An emergency room surgeon! I actually did a pre-med program for my first two years of college, but decided I wanted more of a work-life balance than being a doctor allows for.

What is your favorite part about working for Aimtal?

The flexibility of working remotely. It’s so nice to be able to make my own schedule, work from wherever I want, and not have to deal with the hassle of commuting & traffic.

What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled to? Which destinations are at the top of your travel list?

Oh man. I’ve never traveled anywhere that I *didn’t* like. I really loved Amsterdam and totally felt like I could live there. Italy, Germany, and South Africa are all high on my list, but there are so many other places I want to go, too!
