Aimtal Team Spotlight — Ines Kampschulte
By: Ines Kampschulte| April 6, 2022
Meet Ines, one of our talented Project Managers! At work you can find her wrangling deadlines and keeping projects on track. Outside of work, Ines can often be found on-the-go — whether it’s hiking, kayaking, or on a flight to her next bucket list destination.
Get to know her more in this spotlight interview:
Where were you born, and where do you live now?
I was born in Paderborn, Germany. Today, I live in Toronto, Canada.
What are your favorite ways to spend your free time outside of work?
On a sunny day, I love to be outside and be active. Anything from kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, hiking, biking, skating, and rock climbing — to hanging out with friends in a park or on a patio.
On a rainy day, I love to bake or completely immerse myself into a book.
Any day — traveling!
If you could choose to be an animal, which would you choose?
An owl. They are somewhat mystical yet real. Plus, they can fly. Who doesn’t want to be able to fly?
What are you currently binge-watching?
Sharp Objects. I’m a big fan of crime and thrillers, ideally with a psychological twist.
Name one marketing mistake many brands make but can easily be avoided.
Not understanding their target audience. This becomes even more important when it comes to international business expansion. For any business to succeed overseas, one must keep an open mind, remain flexible, and do research. Market research. Consumer research. Lots of research.
Marketing initiatives that resonate with the target market in your home country do not necessarily appeal to audiences in other countries. Only if marketers understand their audience they can effectively communicate with them and reach them in a meaningful way.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Loyal, value-driven, curious.
You are hosting a dinner party and get to invite 3 famous people (from any time period), who do you choose?
Frankly, I’d rather have dinner with my great-grandparents and grandpa than with famous people I’ve never met. If I have to choose famous people, a dinner with Diane Fossey, Charlie Chaplin, and Blackbeard sounds like an interesting evening.
What are your goals for this year?
My goal for this year is to live life to the fullest, both professionally and personally. Leave my comfort zone, acquire a new skill or two, travel to new places, and make memories.
If you had to pick one artist/song to narrate your life from this point on, what would it be?
What is one thing you believe every marketer should know?
The reason why your consumers buy your product. Oftentimes there is a gap between why marketers think consumers buy a product and the actual reason someone buys a product. If one doesn’t know the true motivator, they cannot have a meaningful conversation with their target audience (no one wants to be talked at, but talked to), and with that you waste resources and marketing $ on strategies and initiatives that get lost in the clutter.
How do you take your coffee?
I’m a hot-chocolate kinda person, all year round.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
What is your favorite part about working for Aimtal?
The people. Not only does everyone have ambition and drive and is knowledgeable in their expertise. There is a genuine comradery among the team which I have rarely seen in a workplace.
What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled to? Which destinations are at the top of your travel list?
One of my all time favorite places I have visited are the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. The culture, the people, the hospitality, the food, the scenery — I savored every moment of it.
I always have an (extensive) list on my fingertips of next-to-travel destinations. Currently, top of my list are Papua New Guinea, Iceland, Greenland, Mongolia, and I’d love to go to the Congo to see lowland and mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
Name a quote that you live by.
“What is the bravest thing you’ve ever said?” asked the boy. “Help”, said the horse.
From ‘The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse’ by Charlie Mackesy
